August and September Thrift Pick Round Up

Howdy, folks! There’s been quite the delay since my last post but I’m glad to report that I’m still alive, still picking, and still having a blast since quitting the state gig. If I had to describe the last six weeks, I’d categorize it as one huge weekend. The first Sunday night I wasn’t sad because I didn’t have to go to the office the next day just about blew my mind!

My first few weeks were spent doing LOTS of make up stress-free sleeping and lazing around the house (slug). Now I’m focusing on getting the house de-cluttered from my shop, revamping my photography now that I am home to utilize the meager natural light we get during the morning, listing inventory, and getting back into my wedding shape from three years ago. The hubs and I are also planning a trip to Paris in November after my annual Scotland trip.

But back to the subject of picking… One big surprise since quitting is the fewer picking trips I’ve made over the past six weeks. I used to hit thrift stores ALL THE TIME while working. I’d say my picking has been cut by at least a third to half. I think deep down a lot of my picking before was escapist shopping therapy to handle the stress at work. Now the picking is still fun but kind of like work at times. Of course with the backlog of unlisted inventory in our fourth bedroom, the question is, do I need to pick so much? Yeah, probably 😉

So, without further ado, here are some recent post-resignation picks, in no particular order…

Wow, that’s still a lot of stuff! Notable items include rare Dansk trivets, a Ferris Shacknove pineapple basket, Lisa Larson Pelle figurine, my first Pickard China (pitcher), cream Miu Miu handbag, Louis Vuitton Epi bag, and a rare original pencil study by Mayan archaeologist Tatiana Proskouriakoff.

Until next time…
