So, as stated in the last blog entry, I woke up at 5:30 am to get to an estate sale early, by 7am. I wanted Murano glass and a George Nelson pretzel chair. I asked a worker ahead of time the price on the chair, $250. Eh, best strategy was to find as many valuable smalls as possible, easy to ship. About 30 minutes before the sale I overheard a worker saying the estate was owned by members of the King family, as in King Ranch, the largest privately owned ranch in the US. These people are basically Texas royalty! The nerves went up! I assumed everything would be over priced but I was luckily wrong! I bough so much awesome stuff the sale deserved its own blog entry because it blew my fucking mind!
From left: Murano glass bird bookends (likely Livio Seguso), Barovier & Toso bird, Timo Sarpaneva Iittala bird bottle, and a large brutalist Murano glass vase by Alfredo Barbini for Oggetti.
Mammoth italian lucite mill by Oggetti, early rosewood Dansk mill (OMG!), and a Danish teak mill.
Mannelli travertine rhino bookends, watercolor by Agnes Sims, Freeman Lederman creamer, and a funky mystery vase signed Falvre.
